Welcome to “New Southbound Warm Power Up”! This podcast is curated by Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation (TAEF) and produced by Heartwave.What does TAEF do? We are dedicated to advancing the New Southbound Policy, fostering friendly relationships with Southeast Asian societies through “soft power” and “warm power” in areas such as cultures and arts, academic think tanks, youth leadership, regional resilience, and civil society. After years of effort, we are thrilled to present the first season of our podcast, which consists of six episodes and seven short segments. Hope you have a wonderful listening experience!
The theme of this episode is “Cultural Connectivity - South of the border, culture and art converge in Taiwan.” Southeast Asian countries have profound historical and cultural heritage, with cultural and artistic development being rich and diverse. In recent years, TAEF has been dedicated to promote exchanges and cooperation between cultural and artistic institutions in both Taiwan and Asia. TAEF wishes to create co-prosperity in the Asian region and strengthen the transnational connections within Asian cultural circle. This episode invites Angie Yun-Chu Chen, head of the cultural and art exchange program of TAEF, and Jennifer Lee, program coordinator of TAEF’s close partner “Mekong Cultural Hub,” to share the stories and achievements of cultural links.

Guest Speakers:
Jennifer Lee (Program Manager, Mekong Cultural Center Taiwan Office)
Joining the Mekong Cultural Hub in 2018, Lee has been engaged in theater management services, planning and coordination of art projects and art festivals, and art education over decades. Lee once served as Chairperson of Performing Arts Network Development Association (PANDA) and Director of Taiwan Association of Theatre Technology. She has a M.A. degree in Cultural Policy and Arts Management from National Taiwan University of Arts.
Angie Yun-Chu Chen (Project Manager of the Cultural Exchange Program, TAEF)
Angie received her M.A. degree in Culture Industry from Goldsmiths College, University of London. She is particularly interested in cultural studies, social observation, and cultural diplomacy. Prior to joining TAEF, Chen once served as an adjunct lecturer at universities and worked for the Sanlih Entertainment Television. She was also a columnist for The News Lens (TNL), focusing on movies, culture, and social observation.

Cherri was born and raised in Hong Kong. Having earned her Bachelor’s degree in Translation at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, she is now studying Chinese-English Conference Interpreting at National Taiwan University’s Graduate Program for Translation and Interpreting.
