March 10th, 2023

The Story of Dr. Chuang Pei-Ni of Becoming a Mover in International Medical Exchange

“All your experiences would come back to you in some other forms in the future.” Dr. Chuang Pei-Ni is a graduate from National Taiwan University College of Medicine. Now she serves at National Taiwan University Hospital Hsin-Chu Branch as a visiting doctor in the Family Medicine Department. Embracing holistic medicine and humanistic care as her philosophy, Dr. Chuang is specialized in the clinical research and practices of travel medicine, preventive healthcare, geriatric medicine, palliative care, and other fields. She was also a co-principal investigator for New Southbound Health Center and other travel medicine projects, dedicating herself to the healthcare projects in Southeast Asia initiated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. “I had never known that my experience growing up in Indonesia would be helpful for my development in international medicine!” said Dr. Chuang in the interview. With a sweet smile and sincerity, she also encourages the audience to give their best and do what they can do now. She also hopes that her experience and story can motivate students to broaden their horizons and build up their resilience.

About the Project

In late 2022, the Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation initiated the New Southbound Policy (NSP) Resilient Talent Project. The series goes into various fields and industries in Taiwan, uncovering the stories of NSP policy workers, new immigrants, their children, and NSP forces working in Taiwan. Through their sharing, we hope to better understand, from their groundwork experience, how the NSP has opened up Taiwan's Southward exchange and the associated opportunities and challenges.

In response to the rise of megatrends, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, changes in geopolitics and climate change, the project also discusses with experts and scholars how regional cooperation keeps the doors open for exchanges between NSP talents, as well as how it helps build social resilience through talent development.
